On this sunny afternoon, my family and I ventured out to the Temescal neighborhood in Oakland to taste one of its newer establishments, The Sacred Wheel. It is a gourmet cheese shop and specialty market that also serves soups and sandwiches. I heard they made a mean grilled cheese so we had to go and check it out. Their menu is very straightforward, but also unique. They have a daily soup as well as their tomato PBR soup (That's tomato soup with Pabst Blue Ribbon). You may also enjoy a selection of grilled cheese sandwiches that can be combined with a bowl or cup of one of their soups. My husband devoured his Grilled Cheese Trinity which had pepper jack, gouda and gruyere cheeses and savored his delicious tomato PBR soup. I ventured for their Sunday special vegan grilled cheese with a side of their daily soup which happened to be vegan as well. It was a Sweet and Sour Cabbage soup and it was just divine and had just the right amount of spice to it. The vegan grilled cheese was so delcious that I bought some of the cheese and took it home. The prices were affordable as both the combos were $10 each. You may also order one of their specialty sandwiches such as the Sri-Roppy Joe which is made with sirrachha sauce or the Flying Pig which has hot ham, brie and crisp apples. I am sure you cannot go wrong with anything you order here. Parking was super easy and the service was friendly and accommodating. I didn't post my picture of my half-eaten sandwich, it was too yummy to pose for photos. Trust me, you will not regret going here!
